> Marriage License
Prior to your Hawaii wedding, you will need to obtain a marriage license from an authorized marriage license agent for the State of Hawaii. The marriage license application must be submitted in person and both the prospective bride and groom must be present. The marriage license costs $60, which is payable in cash when the submitted application is approved. Proof of age (certified copy of birth certificate, passport or driver's license) and any required written consents (if younger than age 18) will need to be provided at the time of application. Blood tests and shots are not required. You do not need to be a resident of Hawaii or a U.S. citizen to marry in Hawaii. You the will receive the license for your Hawaii wedding immediately after your application is completed. The marriage license is immediately valid for 30 days throughout the State of Hawaii. Call The Maui office of the Department of Health, (808) 586-4545, for more information on Hawaii marriage licenses or to schedule an appointment with a marriage license agent. You can also request a "Marriage License Application" packet. Marriage performers must be licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Health. The marriage officiant will send the marriage license to the Department of Health Registrar following the ceremony. The official marriage certificate will be filed with the State Registrar and Vital Records Section and mailed to you approximately 120 days later. If needed, the marriage license agent can submit a request for a certified copy along with the $10 fee. |
